Mulch

Recycling of green waste debris as much as possible.

Mulch keeps weeds down, slows water evaporation and disintegrates into an organic fertilizer. Mulch tends to be acidic and is best used on acid- plants such as blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, roses, and rhododendrons. Oak sawdust in particular is quite acidic.

Walnut and cedar produce phytotoxic (plant-killing) chemicals and should not be used for mulch.
